At the
turn of the third century b.d., with
the foundation of latin colony of
Venusia, was the start of the Roman
colony in the Basilicata.
Always in the course of the same
century the Roman colony built
Grumentum.
Grumentum was born in the natural
beauty of landscape of the Val
d’Agri and you can find historic and
religious monuments with an
amphitheater of the first century
a.d..
Recently,
in the archaelogical park of
Grumentum you can find walking
trails and free open spaces that
have been built in the existing
rural houses.
